Who We Are

The Health of African Immigrants Program (HAIP) is a student-led organization focused on improving health outcomes for African immigrant communities in Southwest Philadelphia. We bring together students, researchers, and community members who are committed to addressing health inequities through culturally informed approaches.

Our Mission

1. To investigate the health needs of African immigrants through research and direct community engagement

2. To work alongside local organizations to develop and implement solutions that improve health outcomes

Our Approach

HAIP operates at the intersection of research and service. We believe that effective solutions come from deeply understanding the communities we serve.

• Community-Centered Research: We prioritize listening to community voices through surveys, interviews, and focus groups

• Collaborative Action: We partner with organizations across Southwest Philadelphia to turn insights into impact

• Student Leadership: Our team is composed of driven students gaining hands-on experience in public health, research, and outreach
